The official opening of the event was heralded in by the Drang drum band entering the park playing their South American drums. Lions President, Brenda Meredith welcomed all with a short speech and thanks to the La Cal de Mijas Town Hall for allowing the Lions the use of the park for the day. Visitors enjoyed strolling round the stalls offering them Cava and mince pies, cakes, burgers, clothes, jewellery, Christmas decorations, handmade cards as well as tombola and a raffle.
