The Torreon Square and surrounding streets were filled with people on a Saturday afternoon to watch the 2025 Waiters Race and then enjoy the entertainment and the many stalls that were packed with artisan items. Waiters were sent from many bars, their task was to carry a tray containing drinks and some food as fast as they could walking, without spilling the drinks or losing the food. The route took them from the start near the Town Hall and down Calle Marbella to the Torreon Square. Bars that sent waiters were: 1 from Eskina, 2 from Soto, 1 from Ellas, 2 from Cortijillo, 1 from Blarney, 1 from Bridges and 1 from Biddy Mulligans. The winning waiter was Brad Carolan from Bridges Bar, 2nd and 3rd were brothers Dani and José from Cortijillo. The waiters were sponsored by friends, family and their fabulous customers, raising nearly €2000. Event organiser Sandie Tavendale would like to thank the competitors, bars, Mijas Foreigners department, 50 stall holders and the fantastic entertainment provided free by local artists who support every event organised by La Cala de Mijas Lions Club. During the afternoon the Lions presented a cheque to Drang, who previously played their drums during proceedings, for €3600 which will be used in helping disabled people enjoying the sound and rhythm of the drums played by Drang. The event raised over €3000 which will be used by the Lions to help those in need throughout the area.
